In the Texas Tri-Regions, there are loaded classes of young women who can hoop. Classes 2025 through 2027 are loaded with legitimate high end college prospects and they've been displaying their skills all in the first part of the ‘24-25 season.
As the New Year approaches and resolutions are being made, people are looking to change old habits. Well for these young ladies look for them to continue their habits of stellar play from the first part of the season into the New Year.
Point Guard-Leonna “LA” Sneed 5’7 (Wagner HS/2025)
Sneed (Utah signee) is an electric point guard that’s always in overdrive, looking to attack her defender each time down the court. Her dynamic play has led the Thunderbirds to 19-3 record, while averaging 25ppg.
Forward/Center-Soma Okolo 6’1 (Glenn HS/2025)
One of one is Soma Okolo (University of Miami signee), as she’s demonstrated in-game dunking on a few occasions. Okolo’s work down low is unmatched due to length, size, and athleticism but her mid-range game has become consistent, which allows her to face-up to shoot or blow-by defenders. Averaging a double-double, 22ppg and 10rpg, Soma has led the Grizzlies to be the #1 5A team in Texas.
Point Guard-Elizabeth “Libby” Lee 5’11 (Glenn HS/2027)
The floor general for the top ranked 5A team has been incredible this season. Lee has great positional size as a point guard and plays with good pace, has solid handles to get to her spots. Lee is quiet on the court but her importance to her team speaks volumes. She uses her size and skills to fill up the box sheet, and is putting up 16ppg, 6rpg, and 6apg. The ceiling is high for Lee and it is crucial for her continue to reach it, as she’s an integral part of the Glenn team looking to get to State this season.
Point Guard-Aaliyah Chavez 5’9 (Monterey HS/2025)
Continuing to prove her national top ranking, Aaliyah Chavez has been up to her usual high-level production. Chavez is a prolific scorer, with nifty maneuvers in the paint, good ball handling, and a high end shot maker. Entering the new year, Chavez is averaging 35.4ppg while being extremely efficient, shooting 49% from the field and 39% from the 3-point line. Chavez will continue to solidify her top national ranking in 2025 with hopes to capture a state title for the Plainsmen.
Center-Jada Jackson 6’2 (Frenship HS/2027)
The double-double machine, Jada Jackson is making a strong case to be a national prospect in the ‘27 class as she uses her length and size to be highly productive. Jackson has put up unreal numbers such as a 21pts/17rbs/4blks for the Frenship Tigers that are currently ranked #7 in Texas. Her dominance in the paint will be critical for her team and herself in 2025.
Guard-Kayla King 5’10 (Judson HS/2025)
Leading the way on the perimeter for the top ranked 6A team is Kayla King (Houston Signee). King is always athletic and quicker than her defender to score at will. Displaying the ability to score all over the court, King has been one of the key catalysts to a 24-1 season thus far.
Forward/Center-Cora Bennett 6’2 (Judson HS/2026)
2024 has been a great year for Cora Bennett as she has racked up 9 offers, but her recently play has garnished an offer from Cal Berkeley, which now puts Bennett on the radar for other high major schools. Bennett’s size and mobility causes problems for opposing teams, as she stands a legit 6’2 and moves like a gazelle around the court. The ability to be a force in the paint and extend her game to mid-range, has made the Judson Rockets offense versatile.
Guard-Bella Flemings 6’0 (Brennan HS/2026)
After a tough start to the season, the Brennan Bears have picked things up and are currently on a 5-game winning streak. Brennan’s recent success has been on the shoulders of Bella Flemings, who recently had a 32-point game vs Harlan and averaging 20.8ppg this season. Flemings game has been growing outside of scoring as she been all over the boards, collecting rebounds and also showing great signs on the defensive end. In her last outing, Flemings racked up 10 steals vs Holmes (TX). A lot has been put on Flemings's plate and she is answering the bell, the Bears will look for her dominance to achieve what they did last year, in getting to the State tournament.
