CenTX Hoopsfest: Day 1 Recap (2-0)

2-0 on the day, onto semifinal play...

The first day of action for the 7th annual CenTX Hoopsfest wrapped up Saturday evening, and 7 teams went unblemished to move forward into the Semifinals of their respective brackets. Here’s a quick breakdown of how those teams fared:

17U (2-0)

The 1-2 guard combo of Max Filderman (Bowie HS) and Myles Fernandez (Buda Johnson HS) carried the Hardwood Prospects. The pair combined to connect on 9 treys and showed a consistent perimeter touch on the day in propelling THP to the semis.

Twenty eight points was the average margin of victory for SAHE. Finley Montoya led the offense w/20pts & 16pts, respectively in their two wins. Kristian Burgan showed his athleticism and strong frame, finishing above the rim multiple times on the day. Logging double digits in each game, 16pts and 12pts.

Led by two home school products both from the Texas Lion, Jonathan Hadnott & Legend Durst led the offensive attack as TXC would win both games in run away fashion. Hadnott dropped 33pts in one win, while Durst lit up the nets for 38pts.

A balanced attacked, with Corbin Crocker (TMI HS) setting the pace and logging a game high 18pts in their victory over DN CTX. Trevaun Clark and Ozmel Bowen added 15pts a piece, and Maxwell Docktor pitched in 13pts.

Dominic Boyd
had a 33pt outburst in one game, and hit double figures with 14pts in their second win. Dominic Vale (Central Catholic HS) also had a pair of double digit scoring games, hitting for 16pts & 13pts in their wins.

Guard play was also the key for Team FOA. Jamail Garland (Clemens HS) and Maurice Eddie (Steele HS) both had 23pts & 22pts, respectively in one their wins.

NISD teammates, Ryan Deleon (O’Connor HS) led the way over DNSA w/23 pts and Lucas Henzi (Brandeis HS) poured in a deuce-decude, 22pts. Connor Garcia (Brandeis HS) took the scoring lead in the win over THP, had a team 19pts.

Brandon Hailey was the biggest impact putting together 20 and 18 pts performances. Jayson Ellis finished with 21pts in the victory over Proskills SA Black.

The offensive output came from Jax Sharun. Dialed in from deep, connected on 7 treys in the 2 wins, scoring 22pts and 17pts to lead Austin Select.

Blake Brasch (Stony Point HS) put in 20 pts in beating His Hoops, and a balanced scoring attack was spearheaded by Ryan Longoria (Hendrickson HS) who added 13pts in defeating DN CTX.

Texas Ballers Select 57

Freshmen duo Javaughn Kindred & Quintin Cain (Judson HS)  paced ProSkills SA Black, in front with 16pts and 13pts, respectively. Both showed a nice touch from outside, Kindred would sink 6 combined treys and Cain also connected on three of his own.
