It’s long overdue, and as staff we’ve never released rankings this late into the season. As the saying goes, better late than never.

There’s no debating it, the 2024 class is carried by the Central Texas talent. Eighteen of the thirty ranked prospects hail from the I-35 corridor between Waco and South Austin. Nine from Greater San Antonio and South Texas, and three from West Texas.

Here’s our breakdown the top junior prosepcts:

At the top is junior, Josiah Mosely (Stony Point HS). The 6’7” forward has developed into a beast in the paint and on the block. Has a very impressive motor that shows as he’s a constant double-double machine. An above average athlete who leaps quickly, runs the floor very well and can play above the rim with ease. Continues to improve his perimeter game and is now a constant threat from 10-14 feet out with a soft touch. Because of his athleticism, he’s a force on the defensive end, consistently altering, or swatting shots.

Coming in at the #2 spot is another Central Texas post in David Punch (Harker Heights HS). At 6’6”, Punch has an array of low post moves, can finish with either left or right. A good athlete who will also play above the rim and like Moseley, has a knack for rebounding the ball on both ends. His biggest improvements have also shown the ability to step out on the perimeter, from 18 feet and beyond the arc. If Punch can remain consistent from the perimeter, his stock will be even more valuable as a potential pick and pop four man.

A newcomer to the Top five in our 2024 rankings, is combo guard Lawyer Jones (Waco Midway HS). He moves up to number three. Jones truly embraces the definition of a combo guard. He has played as the primary ball-handler, and does so effectively, using his quickness to attack and create, or finish as the scorer he can be. When the 6’2” guard is off the ball, he’s a slasher, and he doesn’t need much space to work and be effective with his jumper. His distance goes beyond the three-point line. Is also a plus defender and uses good length and his athleticism to hound opposing guards.

Big man Cameron Jackson (Weiss HS) is our fourth ranked prospect. At 6’9”, and a 240 pound plus frame, there aren’t many who can supplant Jackson from the paint once he’s established. He’s methodical when operating on the block, and knows how to use his frame very well. Shooting nearly 70% from the field. Jackson doesn’t always rely on brute force either. He can finesse his way around the hoop as well and finish. Is averaging 20 points & 11 rebounds for the Wolves. Is always active on both interiors, on both sides of the floor.

Finishing up our Top 5 is San Antonio wing, Aidan Richard (SA Reagan HS). The 6’6” wing certainly put himself on the map starting this summer at TABC, the July LIVE periods, and has continued hooping leading the Rattlers. Is a shooter and not so much in volume, but is lethal and accurate, shooting right at 50% from beyond the arc. A versatile wing who will exploit his match-ups. Can play with his back to the basket against smaller defenders, and elevates when deploying the jumper. Has a smooth released that is pretty in the mid or long range.

In the 5 to 15 range, two prospects who have the potential to climb as they continue to perform. At the ten spot is 6’0” point guard James Livingston (Cole HS) and at #12 is 6’3” shooting guard Donny Thomas (Bishop HS). Both are the driving engines behind their teams. Livingston is a do it all floor general. The teams primary ball-ball handler and top scorer. Will kill from you the outside or dissect your defenses. Thomas is an athletic two-guard who thrives in transition, utilizing his length and athleticism. Cannot be left alone, will let it fly and make you pay. Deep playoff runs for both will only help their exposure and stock.

From sixteen on down, one prospect who is very intriguing, is Trayvon D. Williams (Liberty Hill HS). Sitting at #27, he’s long, athletic, wiry, and can elevate. Is a slasher and finisher at the hoop, but if he can improve from the perimeter and become a reliable threat, he has the physical skillset that is coveted by all college coaches.
