The school year has started for most, and now in the blink of an eye last year’s freshmen are moving on up. In nearly a decade of providing evaluations and rankings, we can say that if this class stays together it will the closest in depth and talent to the vaunted 2017 class. For context that class had 11 division one signees out of San Antonio alone.

Four prospects already have offers, Greer, Flemmings, Bryant, and McIver, with many others already firmly planted at the top of several recruiting boards.

Hudson Greer has cemented himself as a high major prospect with several offers already in his possession (Kansas State, SMU, Texas Tech, St. Louis & more), and is at the top of the class. He’s consistently shown his athleticism, ability to attack the hoop, perimeter game, and finishing above the rim, all spring and summer. A few more out of state offers and Greer will be a solidified national prospect.

The top point guard in the class is Kingston Flemmings. He’s stretched and is a legitimate 6’2”. His IQ and court awareness are that of a seasoned high school senior. Add to that, a quick first step and an uncanny ability to finish at the hoop. Teammates have to keep their head on a swivel with Flemmings because the rock will come your way when you least expect it. His head is always up looking to facilitate. If he continues to hone his perimeter game, coupled with his height, length, and speed, he’ll be a national prospect as well.

Third in our initial rankings is the athletic wing Mekhai Bryant of Pflugerville Connally. Another long, rangy, athletic wing who has risen up the recruiting rankings this summer. Stephen F. Austin is the first program to offer the CenTX talent with others evaluating. He thrives in the open floor and will drop the hammer easily when finishing at the rim.

Arguably the most intriguing prospect in the Top 15 is Javonte Johnson. With similar build to Bryant, the 6’5” rangy wing is now fully healthy and staying on the court. He’s turned heads all spring and summer. Is an above average athlete who is a threat in the half court, or will get out and do damage in transition. Uses a smooth jumper from the mid-range, and well beyond the arc. Can easily elevate and finish with authority. Certainly a prospect to keep eyes on. Low and mid major college programs are taking notice.

Rounding out our Top 5 is Kameron “KJ” Williams. The Harlan sophomore has had a very impressive summer and at 6’4” is like the last two prospects, rangy and athletic. Runs the floor like a gazelle and uses his length and leaping ability to finish. From May through July, showed an improved perimeter attack, not only in the mid-range, but from the three-point line as well. Is another 2025 prospect with so much upside, and three years of high school left.
