Hardware from the ACH Classic is handed out and more...

San Antonio, TX-

After an incredible AlamoCityHoops Classic, it’s only appropriate to hand out the hardware to those who earned it. We start first with the Most Valuable Player of the event and then list our staff’s All-Tournament Selection team.

When the Apache’s needed buckets, time and time again, it was their junior guard who stepped up and led the way.

ACH Classic Quick Hits

-After three plus years of seeing Xavier Martinez (Antonian HS) and Trey Blackmore (Cole HS), there is no mistake, they are both low major division one prospects. Either one would be a steal for a D2 program. There’s no need to overthink it. They are consistent on the court and their play against top competition and defenders is all the proof your eyes need to see.

-Brennan’s future is oh so bright. The young Bears finished 3-1 and did that with freshman point guard Kingston Flemings leading the way. Additionally, they were down 3 key players in Freshmen Camden Cowgill, Javonte Johnson, and senior Deon Williams who was injured on Friday. Head Coach Dakota Cowgill aka “The Albino Rhino,” has a deep pool of talent heading into the season, the key is that they get and stay healthy.

-The Cougars will be a very tough out in West Texas. Franklin High School finished 2-2, but their 2 losses were by a combined 8 points, and they led in the second half of each of those loses. It’s a testament to Head Coach Adam Castillo on how hard he works with his kids, and how they respond as a unit, and rise to the occasion. Keep an eye out for this 6A team from the 915.

-A&M Consolidated made a very big impression. The Tigers let everyone know in the Tri-Regions, they have a fierce squad who will fight, claw, and get after you for 32 minutes or more. Coach Andrew Daily gets the maximum out of his kids and this Brazos Valley team opened plenty of eyes after going 3-1 and nearly pulling off the win in the Championship this past weekend.

-Autavius Hobbs and Justin Whitmore are a formidable 1-2 punch for the Rangers. A mostly upperclassmen team, more then held it’s own at the ACH Classic, finishing 3-1. Beating Brennan, and defending TAPPS 4A State Champ Westbury Christian in the 3rd place game. Coach Lintelman and his program are certainly worth taking note of as the season progresses into District 9-6A play.
