Stout defensive effort and Amira Marby's double-double lead to the win

Converse, TX-

Although early in the season, a Top 10 Statewide matchup between Judson and Reagan, was a physical contest that saw the Lady Rockets cause separation in the second half, and surge ahead for the win.

Kierra Sanderlin (Rutgers signee) would hit two free throws, and then follow that up with a tough leaner, straddling the paint from the free throw line extended, to give Judson a 42-28 lead with 3:10 to go in the contest. That would be enough of a lead to maintain and help push the Rockets to the 48-39 final.

Low post Amira Mabry (2022) would again be the catalyst for Judson, as she quickly established herself downlow going to work in the paint and owning it early on, with 11 points and 7 rebounds by halftime. Her final bucket would be an “And 1” as Judson broke the Reagan press late in the 4th quarter, and Michaela Verrett would hit her streaking down the left side for a hoop and the foul. She’d put in the free throw to make it a 46-39 lead and essentially ice the win with only 29 seconds left in the game.

Mabry battled all game and did her part in the paint. She officially finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, earning “Player Of The Game” honors.

In the first half, Judson would lead by as many as 9 points. Sanderlin would hit a tough jumper going to her left from just outside the paint to make it a 21-12 contest in the second quarter. However, as they did pretty much all game, the Rattlers responded, not letting Judson pull away just quite yet.

From that point on, they would close out the first half on a 8-3 run, punctuated by Miranda Noack’s corner three pointer just before the halftime break, resulting in the 24-20 halftime score, in favor of the Rockets.

Sophomore sensation Samantha “Sammie” Wagner (Baylor Commit) led the Rattlers with 14pts & 9rebs unofficially. She did net 7 free throws in the second half, but was held without a field goal. Christeen Iwuala finished with 10pts and 12rebs, registering another double-double.

With the win, Judson moves to 7-0 on the season and it sets up another great match-up as they travel to Antonian (8-1) this Friday.
