Round Rock, TX-

After a long day of action, here’s a look at who was able to wrap up day one of “The Launch” unblemished.

(17U Division)

DJH5, 2-0
Started out the day early on, by holding off a very talented UAA Texas Hardwork 15U team, led by Isaac Brown (Sachse HS/2021) who paced the team with 15pts, most of the damage coming from his physical play in getting to the line, 9 of his 15 points coming from the charity stripe. In the second game, DJH5 used a balance scoring effort, with Julius Wright (Mesquite HS/2022) and DJ McJimson (Mesquite HS/2021) both setting the pace in the narrow win over Team FOE 2021 White, 53-50. Brown also added 10pts in the win.

Austin Defenders 2021 Elite, 2-0
Offensively, as a team had one of the better performances, putting up 89pts in the 8:30am round of games in their 89-82 win over SA Select. A balanced scoring load, spearheaded by Andrew O’Neal who had a team high 12pts, and Jackson O’Neal followed closely dropping in 11 in their big win, 62-42, over Centex Attack Logan.

UAA Texas Hardwork 16U, 2-0
The very talented 16U team made easy work of their opponents on Saturday, with a 33 point average margin of victory. Top 25 Nationally ranked prospect Vince Iwuchukwu (Cole HS/2022), who didn’t play the entire second half in their first game, finished with a game high 15 points. In their night cap, Xavier Kirk (Warren HS/2022) led the way with 14pts, adding a trey, and 6’11” Iwuchukwu backed him up with 13pts as they dispatched Austin Pro Skills 17U.

House For Hoops (H4H) 17U, 2-0
Arguably the top shooting performance came from Mathias Nero (Ellison HS/2020),  who rained in 7 three-pointers in their victory of the Texas Superboys finishing with 26 total in the win. Low post James Barlow (Carlisle HS/2020) averaged 13pts on the day, and had a game high 15pts in their second win trouncing SA Proskills White, 72-42.

FAOT Allstars, 2-0
Coach V and his Allstars came to play, rolling through opponents by 23 and 18 points respectively. Leading the charge over Team Foe 2021 White was Jonas Carlisle (South San HS/2021) who put his driving ability and solid mid-range game on display, connecting for a game high 16pts. Right on his heels were Manny Rabago & Angelo Samudio, who both worked and finished with 15. They pulled away in their second game of the afternoon, separating from UAA Texas Hardwork 15U, 78-60. Samudio turned in an even better performance with a team high 20 points, showing off nice footwork and ability down low to score in deep in the 18 point win.

Truly an overall team effort, outlasting the DC Kings, 59-53. No one player hit double digits, but a balanced attack and solid defensive performance, netted the win. Later on in the day, Jackson Reid (New Braunfels HS/2021) would tally a dozen points, showing a nice touch from outside, connecting on 2 treys. JaRayl Peoples pitched in 10 points in the “W.”

He showed some range connecting on two from beyond the arc, and finished with 14pts in the victory.

Austin Proskills 16U, 2-0
Winning their respective matches by 17 and 18 points respectively. High score performance of the day goes to Josh Goings (Salado HS/2022), who out of the shoot was on fire in the 8am round, lighting up defenders for 31 points and sinking 3 treys in his early performance. Goings and freshman Devin Pullen paced Proskills in their win over the Tarheels, both sharing the game high of 19pts a piece. Both also connected on long range, nailing 2 each from deep.

ATX Lockdown Elite 2022, 2-0
Outside of UAA Texas Hardwork 16U, Lockdown showed to have the most complete talent of any team in all the divisions. TJ Johnson (Belton HS/2022) is a Tri-Regions Top 10 2022 prospect and showed why, going for 29pts in their win over the Austin Defenders 2022. His ability to score at all three levels is impressive, he rained in 5 treys as well and caught a body rising above the rim. Jose Waring (Georgetown HS/2022) is another talent on this deep roster, going for 24 and 20 points in their 2 wins. He added 21 boards in their disposal of the TexasSuperboys 16U early on, putting together the complete performance of Saturday. Their attack doesn’t stop there, point guard Jacob Swaboda (Cedar Park HS/2022), wing Levi Rutledge (Cedar Park HS/2023), and Wyatt Keike (Cedar Park HS/2022) all had their moments showing off nice outside touch and the ability to score when needed in multiple facets.
